What does “editable PowerPoint” mean here?
Placing a JPG on a PowerPoint slide lets you move the whole picture, but you cannot click a word and change it. SlideLocal uses text recognition to create separate text boxes, so you can correct a heading, update a number, or rewrite a paragraph after exporting.
- Text: recognized words become text boxes with editable content, font, size, color, and position.
- Images: you can manually select and extract an image region in the editor, then move and resize it separately.
- Background: the remaining slide design stays an image. Charts, tables, icons, and diagrams are not automatically rebuilt as native PowerPoint objects.
If you need to edit chart data or individual table cells, rebuild those elements in PowerPoint. Recognizing their visible labels does not restore the underlying data.
How to convert an image to editable PPT
- Import a clear slide image. Open the editor and choose a PNG, JPG, or WebP. Use one complete slide per image.
- Recognize the text. The first run downloads recognition assets. Keep the page open while processing completes.
- Review the reconstruction. Correct words, adjust text boxes, and compare with the original. Complex backgrounds may need manual cleanup.
- Export PPTX. Once every page has recognized or manually added text, download the deck and continue editing in PowerPoint.

Check the exported slide before sharing it
Open the PPTX in PowerPoint, select a recognized heading, and change a word. Then check small labels, numbers, and line breaks against the original. A low-resolution screenshot can produce missing or incorrect words.
Font matching is manual. Fonts are not automatically identified or embedded in the PPTX; install the fonts you use on the device that will present the deck. A dense slide or a photograph taken at an angle will usually need more review than a clear, front-facing screenshot.
Can I convert a PDF or an AI-generated slide?
PNG, JPG, and WebP slide images are supported, including images from other presentation tools. Direct PDF and PPTX import are not supported: export their pages as images first. The same text and background limitations apply regardless of where the image came from.
Do my images leave my device?
No. Recognition, editing, and PPTX generation run locally in your browser. Software downloads, sign-in, and export-allowance checks use the network; your slide images and recognized text are not included. Read the privacy notice.
