Your first conversion

1. Import your images

Choose images in the editor or drag them into the workspace. PNG, JPG, and WebP are supported. Each image becomes a page. You can import up to 30 pages, with a limit of 25 MB and 20 megapixels per image. You can also try the sample images in the editor.

2. Recognize the text

Run text recognition for the current page. On first use, the browser downloads recognition assets, which can take a little time. Wait for recognition to finish before editing. For multiple pages, recognize unprocessed pages to work through the remaining pages in order. Completed pages and pages with existing text are skipped; canceling keeps completed results.

3. Review and edit

Select a text box and correct its content in the properties panel. Drag to reposition it and use the resize handle to change its bounds. Compare with the original whenever you need to check the source. Recognition is a starting point: proofread the result before presenting.

4. Export an editable PPTX

Once every page has been recognized or has manually added text, export the presentation. Recognized text becomes editable text boxes in PowerPoint. The remaining background stays an image. You can continue refining the exported file in your presentation software.

Organize your pages

Drag page thumbnails to reorder them. With a thumbnail focused, use Alt + Up or Down to reorder from the keyboard. Deleting a page requires confirmation and can be undone. Finish or cancel batch recognition before reorganizing pages.

Refine the text

Add a text box if recognition missed a line. Use undo and redo to recover changes. Adjust size, font, color, bold, and positioning in the text properties. Resizing a text box does not automatically match the original font size.

Text handling offers three choices: replace the original with editable text, preserve the original image text, or erase the original text without adding a replacement. Preserving the original keeps its image appearance but does not make those words editable.

Recognizing a page again replaces its existing text objects, including edits. Image objects are kept. Download a backup first if you want to preserve the current version; you can also undo the replacement.

Extract a movable image

Use the image selection tool to draw a box around a small illustration or icon. In the preview, remove a plain background with the magic wand, outline the part to keep with the lasso, or use erase and restore to refine the edges. Adjust tolerance if the wand removes too much or too little. The checkerboard represents transparency and is not exported.

Apply the selection to create an image object you can move and resize. This is manual extraction, not automatic shape detection. Simple backgrounds work best. On complex backgrounds, the original image may remain visible underneath; extraction may copy the selected region rather than remove it. Extracted images are not editable vector shapes.

Choose your fonts

Recognized text uses the default font; the app does not automatically identify the source font. Select text and adjust its font, size, color, and weight to suit the page. Existing projects retain their saved font choices.

Decorative or handwritten text may not have an exact font match. Preserve the original text image if appearance matters more than editability for that area.

Fonts are not embedded in PPTX. Install the selected fonts on the computer used to open or present the file; otherwise, presentation software may substitute fonts and change the layout. The font download option can offer third-party font files used by your presentation.

Export, backup, or restore?

• Export PPTX: download an editable presentation for PowerPoint or another compatible presentation app.
• Download backup: save an .itppt file containing the original images and current edits, so you can continue in SlideLocal later.
• Open backup: import a previously saved .itppt project. Back up your current work before replacing it.
• Restore draft: recover the most recent draft saved in this browser. Watch the draft status in the editor.

Drafts do not sync across devices. Clearing browser data or using private browsing can remove them. An .itppt file cannot be opened directly in PowerPoint, and a PPTX file cannot be imported as a SlideLocal backup.

When something needs attention

Recognition is slow or fails

Check the editor’s status and your network connection for the first asset download. Cancel and retry, or try a sample image. Large images are resized for recognition, so very small or blurry words can be harder to detect. Enhanced recognition can help with difficult text but downloads additional assets and takes more time. If it is too slow on your device, turn it off in the editor’s options.

Export is unavailable

Every page needs recognized or manually added text, and active processing must finish first. Extracting images alone does not mark an unprocessed page ready for export. If export fails, keep the current project and retry.

Can I import a PDF, presentation, or ZIP?

Currently, import supports PNG, JPG, WebP, and SlideLocal backups. Export PDF or presentation pages as images first. ZIP and RAR import are not supported.

Can I add slide animations?

Add animations in your presentation app after exporting. SlideLocal does not include a presentation animation editor.

What does Beta mean?

A Beta label marks a feature whose behavior and results are still being improved. It applies to that specific feature.

Recover a draft from our previous address

Drafts stay in the browser and website where you created them. In the same browser, open the previous editor, use the same Google account if you were signed in, resume your draft, and choose Save backup. Then return to this editor and choose Open backup to import the .itppt file. Backups do not use your daily PPTX allowance. Use this new site for further imports and PPTX exports.
